Jamie is a former Village Preschool parent and assistant teacher at Village. In the Spring of 2013, Jamie became the Assistant Teacher and trained under former Lead Teacher Mary St. Martin. Upon Teacher Mary’s retirement, Jamie was promoted to Lead Teacher.
She enjoys watching and helping the children learn and grow, through exploration and play at Village. Jamie has worked with children in a variety of settings including other preschools, volunteering to work with special needs children at Special Olympics and her experience being a dedicated mother and member of the Village community.
Jamie’s enthusiasm for our philosophy, love of children and dedication is evident everyday that she is in the classroom. She enjoys being part of a co-op and supporting families to build a strong cooperative preschool.
Jamie, her husband Troy, their son Parker and daughter Whitney moved to the Portland area in 2012. Jamie loves to read, sew, craft, and is actively involved in her children’s PTA, Scouting, and the Junior League of Portland.
In 2014, Michelle became the Assistant Teacher at Village. Prior to that, Michelle was part of the Village Preschool community for eight years; first as a Village parent and then as nanny to other Village children. During those years, she served as a parent-helper and substitute teacher. Michelle has a high respect for the Village philosophy and tradition of non-judgmental, play-based learning.
Michelle and her son Oliver live in Portland. Michelle grew up in Lake Oswego. She loves to camp, backpack, and to go fishing. Her other hobbies include tap dancing and arts and crafts.
